For the first time since February 2020, the NAEP Data Training Workshop will be hosted in person on January 12–14, 2023, in Arlington, VA.

The NAEP Data Training Workshop consists of lectures and hands-on training aimed at quantitative researchers, graduate students, and analysts with strong statistical skills who are interested in analyzing large-scale assessment data such as NAEP’s. The training will utilize pre-pandemic 2019 NAEP data. The workshop will begin with lectures on design features and methodology unique to NAEP and data analysis strategies required for working with NAEP data. Following the lectures, participants will get hands-on practice working with NAEP data using R EdSurvey™ and NAEP data tools, such as the NAEP Data Explorer (NDE) and the NAEP Questionnaire Tool. Access to NAEP restricted-use data, funding streams, and opportunities will also be explored.
