NAEP R&D at AERA and NCME

NAEP R&D at AERA and NCME

The 2022 AERA and NCME annual meetings will feature trainings, demonstrations, and symposiums relevant to NAEP R&D efforts.

A process data training will be held virtually, one week before the physical AERA and NCME conferences commence, April 13, 2022, 1:005:00 p.m. ET. More information about this training can be found in a prior R&D Hub post, here.

April 21, 2:304:00 p.m. ET will see Yan Wang and Emmanuel Sikali joined by cooperative agreement awardee Kristin Stoeffler in a virtual symposium titled “The Impact of Item, Test, and Test-Taker Characteristics on Engagement During NAEP Assessments.” The three papers featured in this symposium will focus on “how test design decisions (e.g., item features, test assembly) and test-taker characteristics (e.g., proficiency level, opportunity to learn) interact to better understand how tests can be designed to minimize the occurrence of low TTE (test-taking engagement) in a proactive manner.”

To make process data accessible and interpretable to educators, the “Process Data iSmart Tool” was created. April 23, 2022, 9:4511:15 a.m. ET, Emmanuel Sikali, Juanita Hicks, Ruhan Circi, and Tiago Calico will conduct a demonstration of this tool.

Don’t forget to register for these events, and please check the National Council on Measurement in Education and the American Educational Research Association websites for the latest information about the 2022 annual meetings.
