The NAEP Doctoral Internship Program is a 10-week paid remote internship that provides interns with the opportunity to dive into data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) while working directly with researchers from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and the American Institutes for Research (AIR). The program’s seventh year is getting under way, with applications for 2023 opening in December 2022.
Doctoral students in educational measurement, statistics, information science, sociology, psychology, economics, computer science, and other related fields are invited to apply. The selected interns will use NAEP data to help develop statistical methods and knowledge about education that can inform policy at the national, state, and local levels. Interns will work in topic areas such as psychometrics and statistical methods, process data, policy-relevant research, and re-envisioning quantitative information (data visualization). Application instructions and additional candidate qualifications will be posted soon.
In the meantime, check out program alumni and their projects or read an interview with 2019 alumna Melanie Gonzalez. Don't forget to subscribe to the NAEP R&D mailing list to be notified as soon as the internship application is available.
