Applications are now open for the summer 2024 NAEP Data Training Workshop, which will take place on June 26–28, in Arlington, VA. Advanced graduate students, educational researchers at universities or other research organizations, analysts from state and local education agencies, and those interested in analyzing large-scale assessment data will want to check out this upcoming opportunity to learn how to conduct data analysis using NAEP data.
The NAEP Data Training Workshop consists of lectures providing participants with an overview of NAEP operations, NAEP psychometric models, plausible values and complex sample design, and challenges and opportunities related to NAEP research. This year also marks the first time that NAEP Data Training participants will be able to work with data featuring variables related to the COVID-19 pandemic; participants will be introduced to Monthly School Survey (MSS) Linking Study and COVID Data Hub data collections. The workshop will also feature hands-on practice and training with the popular EdSurvey R statistical package as well as other publicly available NAEP data tools, such as the NAEP Data Explorer. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with others or conduct their own analyses in EdSurvey using NAEP or MSS Linking Study data and present their results on the last day.
Prepare your research ideas now! Applications for the summer 2024 NAEP Data Training Workshop will remain open through May 12, 2024. Submit an application, view a draft agenda, and learn more about the NAEP Data Training Workshop here.
