Upcoming AERA 2023 Symposium: NAEP Data and Noncognitive Constructs

The American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting is taking place in Chicago this year on April 13–16. If you’re looking for a better understanding of the relationships between noncognitive constructs (often referred to as “soft skills”) and achievement, check out the “Noncognitive Constructs and Academic Outcomes: Using NAEP Data to Understand Differences in Achievement” symposium on Saturday, April 15, from 10:50 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. ET at AERA 2023.

2023 NAEP Doctoral Internship Program: Application Deadline Extended

The NAEP R&D team has been busy as we start the new year, and we know you have been too. After sustained interest in the application process, we’ve extended the deadline to apply for the 2023 NAEP Doctoral Internship Program for an additional week, through Friday, January 27. The program is a 10-week paid remote internship that provides interns with the opportunity to dive into data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) while working directly with researchers from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and the American Institutes for Research (AIR).

Applications are now open for the summer 2024 NAEP Data Training Workshop! This workshop is for quantitative researchers with strong statistical skills who are interested in conducting data analyses using NAEP data. For the first time, participants in this year's training will get an introduction to COVID data collections. Learn more here!
